It was ‘Cancer Awareness Night’ on Wednesday for a big-time Downriver League girls’ soccer clash between Gibraltar Carlson and their visitors from Brownstown Woodhaven.

Additionally, the matchup featured major DRL position round implications.

Woodhaven, who was eyeing back-to-back victories for the first time all season, needed a win to slot itself into the top third of the standings come position round games. Carlson meanwhile, winners of four straight overall, could have settled for a win or a tie to claim that coveted third spot.

On this special night – where in many ways the game was secondary – it was a monstrous performance from freshman Jillian Farago, who netted four goals en route to a 7-0 Marauders victory over the visiting Warriors.
